Laboratories Functioning in the Institute
The use of entomological evidence in medicolegal field has provided most satisfactory inference in estimating the "Minimum postmortem interval" of insects (flies) infested dead bodies, which is an important factor in forensic investigations.
The laboratory is equipped with the B.O.D. incubator, thermohigrograph, stereo-scopic dissecting microscope and vaccum oven. All the medical officers and Superintendent of Police of the district has been instructed to collect magotts/insects from the corpses and forwarded to this institute for analysis if required.
Nearly 100 cases are being analysed every year.
This laboratory looks after the entomological analysis of the cases of entire Madhya Pradesh.
